Penske Overcomes Problems To Get All 3 Cars To Finish In The Top 10 At Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich – I wrote on Saturday how Team Penske looked strong so far this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway but I didn’t know how much I trusted them. Both Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney were in the top 10 of every session including qualifying while Brad Keselowski showed some promise in his No. 2 Ford as well. But, over the last three weeks, all three drivers have struggled. Would the speed translate over to good finishes? Well, they actually did.

Penske Cars Strong This Weekend, But Do You Trust Them?

BROOKLYN, Mich – Now that all the preliminary action is done in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the Michigan International Speedway, some favorites are starting to creep up to win Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). The problem lies, some of them are Team Penske drivers. But, do you trust them? Penske hasn’t won a non restrictor plate race since April 2017. Even in that race, the car was found to be illegal. Their last non plate win came in Atlanta in February 2017. They’ve had…

It’s An All Penske Front Row As Logano Earns 4th Straight Zippo 200 Pole

Brad Keselowski narrowly knocked his Team Penske teammate of Joey Logano off of his throne when it comes to Busch Pole qualifying in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at the Watkins Glen International. Every year since 2015, Logano had earned the Zippo 200 pole. On Saturday, Logano had his No. 22 Ford fastest in the first round of qualifying and on top of the leaderboard in the second and final round as well. The last driver to have a shot of knocking him off was Keselowski.

Logano To Have Steve Park Pennzoil Themed Colors As Darlington Throwback

Joey Logano’s throwback paint scheme on his No. 22 Ford for the Darlington Raceway was unveiled on Tuesday night on NBC’s NASCAR America. The car will be Pennzoil’s colors honoring Steve Park in the Sept. 2 race at the Too Tough to Tame track. “It is so fun to be driving Steve’s (Park) car at Darlington,” Logano said in a team release. “It’s a cool looking car and something that we have talked about for a long time. We have always been asked by fans, ‘when are we going to…

Penske Trio Eyeing Watkins Glen Win

As odd as this sounds, Team Penske has just one victory all season. That came via Joey Logano’s triumph at Talladega back in the spring. But, if you go back to last season, 47 races to be exact, Penske has two wins, both were at Talladega. Now, despite having all three solidly into the playoffs right now, they’d like to get back to winning again. See, with how dominant that Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick have been over the last 31 races, including this season alone, they’re…

Penske Trio Have Fast Cars, Leave Mid-Ohio Disappointed

LEXINGTON, OH – Team Penske had won the last two years on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Verizon IndyCar Series competition. Heading into Sunday’s Honda Indy 200, they had to be labeled as the favorites. Josef Newgarden was the defending race winner on the 2.258-mile road course and had won two of the three races on natural road courses in 2018. The one race he didn’t win, was won by his teammate Will Power.

Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 (3 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) Could Be Place Where Penske Makes Championship Run

Heading into Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 (3 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) Scott Dixon currently leads the Verizon IndyCar Series points standings by 62 points. But, this weekend’s race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course could be the spot where Team Penske starts a dominant end to the 2018 season, one that if it’s going to end with one of their drivers hoisting the Astor Cup championship trophy at the Sonoma Raceway in September for the third straight year and fourth in the last five, needs to begin with a win.…

Bad Luck/Pressing For Power, Street Course/Superspeedways Have Cost Newgarden 2018 Championship Right Now

INDIANAPOLIS – Lets be honest here, if not for some bad luck or pressing too hard, Will Power would likely be at or very near the top of the Verizon IndyCar Series standings right now. Leaving the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Power was coming off of two wins and a pole in dominating fashion. He was sitting on top of the points standings and looking like the clear favorite for this year’s championship. But, he’s had a ton of bad luck since. At Belle Isle, Chevrolet had…

Team Penske Trio Hoping To Do Enough Sunday To Remain In Playoff Contention

We all know that Sunday’s Foxwood Resort Casino 301 (2 p.m. ET/NBCSN/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway will likely be Toyota dominated. That manufacturer has won all but just one race since Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte, including four straight and has also won five of the last six Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races at the Magic Mile too. But, with how this season has gone, the Team Penske trio are hoping to remain in the hunt. See, only Joey Logano has stamped his name into…

Lap 53 “Big One” Takes Out Half The Field, Including All 3 Penske Cars

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – We expect big crashes at the Daytona International Speedway. They go hand-in-hand like peanut butter and jelly. What we don’t expect though, is for them to occur as early and as often as they did in Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400. Just 53 laps into Saturday night’s 160 Lap race, we saw a crash take out nearly half of the field in Turn 3. In fact, 25 of the 40 starters in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race were collected in the melee.
