Wood Brothers To Honor 1968 Cale Yarborough Car In September’s Southern 500

For this year’s Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, Paul Menard’s No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion will carry a red-and-white paint scheme reminiscent of the Wood Brothers’ 1968 Mercury Cyclone that Cale Yarborough drove to victory in the 1968 Southern 500. The paint scheme honoring Yarborough is part of the track’s fourth-annual throwback weekend. Maybe we should came him “Big Race Kurt” now. Kurt Busch won the season opening Daytona 500 back in February. In the next crown jewel on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, he finished sixth in May’s Coca-Cola 600. At some point this season, Erik Jones is going to pull his No. 77 Toyota to victory lane in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.
