This morning Smithfield announced that they’d be leaving Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season and heading towards Stewart-Haas Racing. Smithfield Leaves RPM For Stewart-Haas, How This Move Affects Silly Season

Another big NASCAR Silly Season domino was revealed on Tuesday morning as sponsor Smithfield announced that they will leave Richard Petty Motorsports for Stewart-Haas Racing beginning in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Smithfield, has had a long history with RPM, first joining the team in 2012. The sponsor and RPM had previously had a handshake agreement for an extension, but recently talks between the two came to a halt and the company wanted to look elsewhere in the NASCAR garage. But, they quickly found a replacement.
