O’Ward Closes Indy Lights Season With Another Win

PORTLAND, Ore – Pato O’Ward ended the 2018 Indy Lights season the way it began, in victory lane. The Mexican driver charged from a seventh starting spot in Sunday’s season finale to his second straight win in as many days as he bookends the season with a win at St. Pete to a win in Portland. He took over the lead on Lap 18 and never looked back en route to his ninth win of the year. O’Ward now has the Mazda Road to Indy scholarship money to race in the…

Kirkwood Earns 10th Straight USF2000 Victory In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – Kyle Kirkwood may have wrapped up the USF2000 Series championship in the last race weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. In fact, the American did so in Race No. 1 of the three race weekend. While he didn’t have anything to necessarily race for over the final two races of the weekend, he still won the other two races as well. In the season finale weekend at the Portland International Raceway, Kirkwood’s main goal was to just win out. I mean, why not? So far, he’s 1-for-1.

King, Sato, Harvey Sleepers So Far This Weekend In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – We all know that the favorites to win Sunday’s Portland Grand Prix (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) will be among the “Big 4.” Scott Dixon, Alexander Rossi, Will Power and Josef Newgarden have won 80-percent over the races in 2018 and led 72-percent of the laps. They’ve won all but one race since June 9. They’ve also been strong this weekend as Dixon, Power and Newgarden have been in the top in literally every session. But, what about some sleepers? There are three that are making some noise…

Andretti Having Himself A Great Weekend In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – I’ve written about this before and the streak unfortunately continues on. It’s been 124 races since Marco Andretti last visited victory lane in the Verizon IndyCar Series. He’s had some close calls since, but ever since that night at the Iowa Speedway in 2011, he hasn’t been back. But, as we’ve now been through four separate sessions around the Portland International Raceway this weekend, it appears that this may be Andretti’s shot at ending that drought. Andretti, had his No. 98 Honda second and fourth respectively in the…

Bourdais/Power Lead INDYCAR Practices On Friday In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – For the first time since 2007, the Verizon IndyCar Series drivers were laying down “official” laps around the 1.964-mile Portland International Raceway. While I know you may be thinking, didn’t they just run on Thursday there? Yes, they did, but Thursday’s times were “unofficial” laps due to having two separate test sessions. Friday’s times were able to go in the record book.

The “Big 4” Are Favorites For Sunday And Have Been Strong This Weekend

PORTLAND, Ore – If you’re looking to pick a race winner for Sunday’s Portland Grand Prix (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) look no further than the top four drivers in the Verizon IndyCar Series championship standings. Yes, I know that’s an easy statement to make when we’re onto the penultimate race of the 2018 season and the top four drivers are the best favorites to win. Shocking, I know. But, you want to be right don’t you?

Championship Contenders Strong In Thursday’s INDYCAR Test At Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – This weekend is a little bit different for the Verizon IndyCar Series. Instead of two practice sessions on Friday, one on Saturday and a qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, the series gave their drivers an extra day of on track activity at the Portland International Raceway. It was only right to do so, as the last time we saw an Indy Car on the 1.964-mile road course was in 2007. Most of the 25 drivers in attendance this weekend had never races on the Pacific Northwest track. So,…

INDIANAPOLIS – Ever since the Verizon IndyCar Series stopped going to Portland in 2007, the Pacific Northwest racing fans have been clamoring for a new race.
