This weekend’s AAA Midwest Nationals at Gateway was a record setting show. From packed crowds at capacity all weekend long, to record blazing speeds, the weekend at the Gateway Motorsports Park was nothing short of amazing. Like usual, Friday’s passes in the Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing Series proved to be the quickest times of the weekend for the Nitro division of the NHRA circuit. The top qualifiers for the 33rd annual Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway all turned their quickest times on Friday. In Funny Car, records were broken. For the seventh time of the Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing Series season, Courtney Force earned the No. 1 qualifier distinction. J.R. Todd Defeats Ron Capps In Funny Car Final Of US Nationals

Brownsburg, Ind – The Funny Car ladder in the 64th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals was full of great storylines. But, we got a great final too with No. 8 qualifier Ron Capps against No. 6 J.R. Todd. Neither has ever won the prestigious event before and here they were with a chance at a “Wally.” In the final round, Todd defeated Capps in a hole shot for his second win in the last four races. It was also his second of the season and 11th of his NHRA career.
