Team Penske Falters Out In Food City 500 at Bristol

I originally didn’t expect much out of the Team Penske trio for this weekend’s Food City 500 at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. In the two race practices on Saturday morning, they were seventh (Joey Logano), 20th (Ryan Blaney) and 28th (Brad Keselowski) in the first session, followed by 16th (Blaney), 20th (Keselowski) and 21st (Logano) in final practice. But, in the race itself, they were all three actually very strong.

Kyle Busch is the king of the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. In Monday’s weather delayed Food City 500, Busch stayed in the hunt all day and took his No. 18 Toyota back to victory lane on the .533-mile concrete oval. Busch, started on the pole for Sunday’s race, but he quickly fell back after just 16 laps. He wouldn’t even get the lead back until we resumed racing nearly 24 hours later. See, rain and cooler temps were forecasted on Sunday in the Tennessee mountains. Despite morning rain, NASCAR got…

We have definitely seen a few Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers separate themselves from the pack as favorites. Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and a few others come to mind. Jimmie Johnson Wins Monday’s Rain Delayed Food City 500

Remember when we all were thinking Jimmie Johnson should be panicking? Johnson, had just one top 10 finish in the first six races of this year, and that was a ninth at Phoenix. But, he reached victory lane in the last race at Texas, and now today at Bristol, he won again. Johnson, did what he needed to do to win, just hang around until it’s go time. SHR Puts 2 Cars in the Top 3 in Monday’s Food City 500

It didn’t start out as a good day for the Stewart-Haas Racing camp in Monday’s rain delayed Food City 500 at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. Kurt Busch crashed early on and would limp home with a 25th place finish while Danica Patrick wrecked not too long after and came home 36th. Also, Clint Bowyer was struggling with the handling of his car early on, as his No. 14 Ford was far too free. Two wrecked race cars and a third one without much grip. But, when the dust settled, two of the four…

One of the years, Roush/Fenway Racing is going to earn a trip back to victory lane. Despite Leading 390 of the 500 Laps, Larson’s Pit Road Penalty, Truex/Logano Fade in Monday’s Food City 500

It was shaping up to be a Kyle Larson vs. Martin Truex Jr. vs. Joey Logano fight for the win in Monday’s rain delayed Food City 500. That trio of drivers were by far the class of the field in today’s 500 lap race at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. Larson, led the first 202 laps of Monday’s race, and was in the hunt for most of the way. The 202 laps led, were the most in any given race for a Chip Ganassi Racing driver. But, a pit road speeding penalty…
