Tyler Reddick Wins Photo Finish In PowersharesQQQ 300 XFINITY Series Opener at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – It took until the first lap in overtime for chaos to finally ensue in the NASCAR XFINITY Series season opener at the Daytona International Speedway. The race was thrilling all the way through, with some insane pack racing in the draft. It was a matter of time though when the big one would occur. Unfortunately, it happened one lap after the scheduled distance. Despite a series record five overtimes, we were treated to a thrilling photo finish. Tyler Reddick bested his JR Motorsports teammate Elliott Sadler by…

Bell, Cindric Involved In Early Crash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – It was pretty unanimous this preseason, Christopher Bell was the favorite to win the 2018 NASCAR XFINITY Series championship. Despite being a rookie, he is racing in very good equipment. Plus, Bell made select starts with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017 and even won a race at Kansas. Unfortunately, his first race of the 2018 season ended early for the Oklahoma native. Bell, was an innocent bystander on a Lap 10 incident in Saturday’s PowersharesQQQ 300 at the Daytona International Speedway. Fellow rookie Austin Cindric had a…

XFINITY Series Has Plenty Of Crazy Pre Race Penalties In Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – It was a crazy Saturday morning for the NASCAR XFINITY Series officiating. While they did absolutely nothing wrong, it was just a bizarre day of penalties. First, Crew chiefs for the No. 3 Chevrolet of Austin Dillon and No. 74 Dodge of Mike Harmon, along with the car chief for the No. 3, have been ejected for Saturday’s Xfinity Series Powershares QQQ 300 (2:30 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). The No. 74 car failed four times at the Optical Scanning Station car inspection process pre-qualifying.…

JR Motorsports, Chevrolet Leads NASCAR XFINITY Series Practice on Friday at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – The NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers took to the race track for the first time of the 2018 season on Friday. 41 drivers took to the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway for two tame practices. But, at the end of the two sessions, one thing stands out to me – speed. Not long ago, the XFINITY Series laps around the 2.5-mile track was in the low 180 mph range. On Friday, Tyler Reddick paced the way with a speed of 196.190 mph in his No. 9…

Ford, Team Penske Dominating Speedweeks Thus Far

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – It should come to no surprise, but the Ford camp is dominating the 2018 Daytona Speedweeks thus far. After three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, they’ve won two of them. In fact, Ford drivers finished 1-2-3-4 in the Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona last Sunday. Then, in the first Duel on Thursday night, they were 1-2 and had four drivers finish inside the top five. In the second Duel, they saw four more cars finish in the top eight.

Bowman Keeps It Conservative In 1st Duel, Other 2 Teammates Not as Lucky

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – For the last four years now, Hendrick Motorsports has won at least one Can Am Duel at the Daytona International Speedway during Speedweeks. They swept the twin 60 lap races in 2015, then saw Dale Earnhardt Jr. win the first duel in 2016. Last year, Chase Elliott won the first duel himself. This year, it was Elliott again, this time winning the second duel. That’s basically a three race win streak though in the opening duel in the last three years right? For the 2018 edition, they…

Blaney/Elliott Wins Thursday Night’s Can-Am Duels

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Everyone wondered what to expect out of Thursday night’s Can Am Duels in Daytona. After last Sunday’s ho-hum Clash, most were worried that Thursday night’s twin races on the high banked Daytona International Speedway would be even worse. If passing was that hard, why would anyone make any extra effort to do so with everyone making the show for Sunday’s 60th annual Daytona 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)? While the 2018 Duels weren’t anything like they could have been, they also weren’t entirely boring either.

What To Expect Out Of The Duels, Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Depending on who you talk to, the Can Am Duels at Daytona on Thursday night and the 60th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday could be very compelling and built with excitement. But, they could also be very boring and following the leader parade like action. The reason? The new restrictor plate rules. There’s no ride height, so teams are trying out different set up packages. The only sample size we can base this off of at the moment, is how the Clash was raced last Sunday. The…

Brad Keselowski Earns 1st Career Speedweeks Victory With Clash Domination

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Brad Keselowski tweeted before Sunday’s Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona that he would win the race later on in the afternoon. Well, he called his shot. Keselowski, became the third driver in the last four years of the Clash to start 15th or worse and reach victory lane. The Team Penske driver started last in 17th. Keselowski, quickly drove through the field in leading a race-high 43 of the 75 laps en route to his first Daytona Speedweeks victory of his career. It was pure domination.…

Alex Bowman Wins The Pole For The 60th Annual Daytona 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – For the first time of his career, Chase Elliott will have to race for something in the Can-Am Duels. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has won the last two Daytona 500 poles, the only two times he’s been in the field for the Great American Race too. But, despite making it to the final round of qualifying from a sunny Daytona International Speedway on Sunday afternoon, Elliott didn’t become the first driver in nearly 30 years to win three straight ‘500 poles. But, his teammate Alex Bowman picked…
