Michael McDowell Sees Big Night End In Crash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Michael McDowell looked to be among the best drivers in terms of skill for this weekend’s Coke Zero Sugar 400. He avoided several crashes all night and his position in the top 10 for most of the race at the Daytona International Speedway was on merit, not luck. McDowell, did a great job of staying up front and narrowly escaped carnage in both early race melees. He started eighth and led the race for 20 Laps on Saturday night overall. Only one driver led more. Unfortunately, the…

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Predicting a winner for a race on a restrictor plate track is like trying to predict the winning numbers of the lottery. But, I’ll take a stab at it for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 (7 p.m. ET/NBC/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Hendrick Cars To Start Up Front But Can They Finish There In Coke Zero Sugar 400

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – For the third time in the last four Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races at the Daytona International Speedway, Chase Elliott and whomever is driving the No. 88 Chevrolet with Hendrick Motorsports will share the front row. For the 2017 season, Chase Elliott earned the pole for the Daytona 500 and he was joined alongside by Dale Earnhardt Jr. For the July race, Earnhardt returned the favor and knocked Elliott of the pole.

NASCAR Got It Right In Haley’s End Of The Race Ruling

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Here we go again. NASCAR fans are sparking an outrage over how the ending of Friday night’s Coca Cola Firecracker 250 wound up. Justin Haley got a great push from Christopher Bell off the final corner of the final lap of Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the Daytona International Speedway. The two leaders battling for the win (Kyle Larson and Elliott Sadler) moved off the bottom yellow line and towards the outside wall in trying to side draft one another. That allowed Haley to get a…

Kaz Grala With Another Impressive Daytona Finish

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Restrictor plate racing is an art. Some drivers get it and some others don’t. After three starts on the Daytona International Speedway, one driver is showing that he could be on a path to be among the future greats on the high speed, high banked 2.5-mile oval. Kaz Grala won his first ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and that just so happened to be at Daytona in 2017. He did so with GMS Racing.

1st 70 Laps of Friday Night’s Coca Cola Firecracker 250 Tame, Rest Was Insanely Intense

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – The last three NASCAR XFINITY Series races at the Daytona International Speedway have all basically been the same. Tame starts, crazy crashes, photo finishes. Friday night’s Coca Cola Firecracker 250 was no different. The first 70 laps had just two caution flags, each for stage breaks. Last year’s July race had four cautions fly in the first 87 laps, half of those for stage breaks too. In February, we only had three caution periods in the opening 62 laps. All seem tame right?

Sadler Narrowly Misses Out On Daytona Win Again

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Elliott Sadler has to be wondering what he has to do to get back to victory lane in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Sadler’s winless streak now extends to 55 races as it goes back to his last win back in Sept. 2016 at the Kentucky Speedway. Since then, Sadler has been close so many times, but his No. 1 Chevrolet just hasn’t been able to get past that proverbial finish line first. Take the two races at the Daytona International Speedway this year as prime examples. Back…

Haley’s Daytona Win Taken Away For Going Below Yellow Line, Larson Deemed Victorious

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Friday night’s Coca Cola Firecracker 250 ended a lot like February’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the Daytona International Speedway. Both races ended in a photo finish. Both also ended with Elliott Sadler finishing second by the narrowest of margins too. But, tonight’s race was a little different. See, the battle at the line for that exciting photo finish, well we originally thought that it was for second place. Justin Haley came out of no where coming off of the exit of Turn 4 and heading into the…

Due To Rain, XFINITY Series Qualifying At Daytona Rained Out, How They’ll Lineup For Friday Night’s Coca-Cola Firecracker 250 (7:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – Mother nature reared her ugly head again on Friday as a severe thunderstorm popped up and hit the Daytona International Speedway just minutes before the scheduled start time for NASCAR XFINITY Series qualifying. On Thursday, rain interrupted final practice for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series too. But, this is Daytona in July. It’s not too shocking.

Bowyer, Fords In General Lead Cup Series Practice At Daytona on Thursday, Final Session Interrupted By Rain

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – We’re likely to a day and age where NASCAR can get away with scheduling just one long practice session on restrictor plate tracks during any given race weekend. Normally, teams take to the track for the first practice session of the weekend and if they come out unscathed, they’ll forego returning to the track for final practice. I’m not saying that necessarily would have been the case this weekend in Daytona and we weren’t going to find out though as rain fell on the high banked 2.5-mile…
