Points Battle Leaving Sunday’s Consumer Energy 400

BROOKLYN, Mich – None of the bubble drivers could capitalize in Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at the Michigan International Speedway as Alex Bowman still holds the 16th and final playoff spot for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series postseason by 62 points leaving this weekend’s race. Paul Menard, Daniel Suarez, Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray tried to go off strategy in the end of Sunday’s race in hopes that they’d get a late race caution but it didn’t work and all had to hit pit road in the closing laps for…

BROOKLYN, Mich – This weekend was the one that Austin Dillon had been searching for. After his season opening win in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 18, Dillon had gone nearly six full months without scoring another top five finish in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this season. Until Sunday. Dillon, with a brand new No. 3 Chevrolet, came away with a fourth place finish in Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at the Michigan International Speedway. It was a day that they can use to push forward with some positive momentum…

Penske Overcomes Problems To Get All 3 Cars To Finish In The Top 10 At Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich – I wrote on Saturday how Team Penske looked strong so far this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway but I didn’t know how much I trusted them. Both Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney were in the top 10 of every session including qualifying while Brad Keselowski showed some promise in his No. 2 Ford as well. But, over the last three weeks, all three drivers have struggled. Would the speed translate over to good finishes? Well, they actually did.

Rough Day For Truex, Toyota Overall On Sunday In Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich – For most of the middle of the first stage through the final few laps of the second stage of Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 at the Michigan International Speedway, it looked like the “Big 3” would dominate the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch would dominate the top five and would at times run 1-2-3. But, for one of the members, they had a rough day in the grand scheme of things.

Penske Cars Strong This Weekend, But Do You Trust Them?

BROOKLYN, Mich – Now that all the preliminary action is done in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the Michigan International Speedway, some favorites are starting to creep up to win Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). The problem lies, some of them are Team Penske drivers. But, do you trust them? Penske hasn’t won a non restrictor plate race since April 2017. Even in that race, the car was found to be illegal. Their last non plate win came in Atlanta in February 2017. They’ve had…

BROOKLYN, Mich – There should be no surprise that the “Big 3” are once again the ones to watch for Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at the Michigan International Speedway. After all, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. have combined to win 16 of 22 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races this season. If you go back to the final 10 races of the 2017 season, they’ve won 24 of the last 32 overall races. Then, if you take out the four restrictor plate races,…

Richard Childress Racing To Start In Row 3 On Sunday

BROOKLYN, Mich – Friday was a solid day out of the Richard Childress Racing camp at the Michigan International Speedway. They did a good enough job in practice early on in the day to put both cars in the third and final round of Busch Pole Award qualifying from the 2-mile, D-Shaped oval. In fact, both RCR cars earned spots in the top half of the final round as they will share Row 3 for Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
