Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway Best 1.5-Mile Race Of The Season

JOLIET, Ill – Here’s a hot take, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the Chicagoland Speedway not only should remain in July as it was this year, but it should remain as a day race too. While I know most of the race fans that braved the heat in 90+ degree temperatures with heat indexes over 100 may not agree, the racing on Sunday should prove that this race is needs to be in this place on the schedule and that the track could save some money on their light…

Joe Gibbs Racing Rallies To Put All 4 Drivers In The Top 11

JOLIET, Ill – For much of Sunday’s Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway Joe Gibbs Racing was no where to be found. They’d all run in spots 10th through 20th and not make much headway towards the front. They’d combine to have just two stage points all day with Denny Hamlin’s ninth place run in Stage 2. Then, the Stewart-Haas Racing group surprisingly self destructed and JGR found some clean air and speed. Kyle Busch would win the 267 Lap race for his fifth win of the season while his other…

Busch Earns 5th Victory Of 2018 In Thrilling Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway

JOLIET, Ill – If we had any part of making the future Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the race at the Chicagoland Speedway would remain as a day race in July. We were treated to 24 lead changes on the 1.5-mile track with thrilling action throughout the entire 267 Lap event. But, no action was as good as the final battle in the closing laps between Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson. Larson, was fourth with 45 laps-to-go and if he was going to win Sunday’s race, he was going to…

Keselowski Had An Extra Set Of Tires, But Never Got To Use Them, Comes Home 9th

JOLIET, Ill – On the Lap 212 restart, Brad Keselowski looked to be in the catbirds seat to win Sunday’s Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway. He was in the top five of the running order and had an extra set of fresh Goodyear tires in his pit stall waiting for him. No one else up front had that. If he could remain up front and use his tires on his No. 2 Ford hard on that stint, he would have some fresh rubber at his disposal if we had another…

Truex Just Didn’t Have Enough In 4th Place Finish On Sunday

JOLIET, Ill – Martin Truex Jr. originally qualified his No. 78 Toyota 12th for Sunday’s Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway. But, his car failed post qualifying inspection on Saturday evening meaning by the rules of the “enhanced weekend schedule” his time was disallowed because of that. He’d roll off 36th as a result. That didn’t slow him down though.

SHR Cars Fast All Day In Chicagoland, Unfortunately Have Problems Occur Too

JOLIET, Ill – Early on in Sunday’s Overton’s 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway, it appeared that Stewart-Haas Racing may get all four cars in the top 10 of the finishing order again. In fact, it even looked as if they could go 1-2-3 at the very least. Clint Bowyer took over the lead on Lap 17 and would lead until Lap 38 when he hit pit road for the first time of the day. Aric Almirola charged up to second while Kurt Busch was running third. That’s when everything started to…

From The Back To The Front, Kyle Larson Wins Saturday’s Overton’s 300

JOLIET, Ill – We already knew that Kyle Larson’s No. 42 Chevrolet had speed in it. So, despite starting Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the Chicagoland Speedway from 38th, we never counted him out to win on a hot, muggy afternoon in Chicago.  See, Larson actually earned the pole for the 200 Lap race but after qualifying, his Chip Ganassi Racing team determined one of his tires need changed. So, they’d charge all four Goodyear tires and start in the back as a result.
