Toyota’s Have Been Strong This Weekend at Bristol

It hasn’t been the year so far that Toyota’s have wanted. In Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series action, they’d won just one race thus far and that’s when Martin Truex Jr. dominated at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Outside of that race, and Kyle Busch leading a ton of laps at Phoenix a week later, Toyota’s have struggled to run up front. Really, outside of those two drivers, the four other Toyota drivers among the Joe Gibbs Racing and Furniture Row Racing camps have struggled in 2017.

Larson, Stenhouse Jr. Wreck in Cup Practice, Stenhouse to Go to a Backup Car

With weather threatening the Bristol (Tenn) area, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams were still able to hit the .533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway short track on Saturday morning for practice. Unfortunately for two drivers, their sessions were cut short due to incidents in this morning’s practice session. First, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got into the wall in his No. 17 Ford as he got into the SAFER barrier with 36 minutes left of the 55 minute first practice.

Erik Jones/Toyota’s Lead Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Practice at Bristol

Rain washed out the morning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice session at the Bristol Motor Speedway, but with rain coming back later on today, NASCAR decided to cancel qualifying this evening and replace it with a practice session instead. Due to a morning rain shower and lingering rain forcasted for later today, NASCAR gave the XFINITY Series teams just 55-minutes of practice this weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
