Truex/Larson/Keselowski Could Struggle Again This Weekend In Bristol

Last weekend in Texas, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski had miserable days. All three crashed out of the race and suffered their worst days of the year. But, I caution that they could be in store for long days again this weekend at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. Lets start with Truex. He saw his 13 race top 10 streak on 1.5-mile tracks end with a crash at the end of the first stage of the race last Sunday. At Bristol, he has an average finishing position…

Watch Out For Roush/Fenway Racing This Weekend In Bristol

It seems like all of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway are all very unpredictable. While there are your usual heavy hitters, carnage can happen at any given moment and take the favorites out around any corner. That’s why we typically see some surprises up front in the finishing order. This weekend, I wouldn’t count out either of the Roush/Fenway Racing drivers. So far this season, both haven’t fared very well. They sit 22nd (Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) and 28th (Trevor Bayne) in the…

Ryan Newman Looking For 5th Top 10 Finish In Last 7 Bristol Starts On Sunday

Austin Dillon has already stamped his name into the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. He did that in the first race of the 2018 season. Now, the focus for Richard Childress Racing is to get Ryan Newman in it. That could happen this weekend in the Food City 500 (2 p.m. ET/FOX/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. Newman, currently sits 17th in the Cup points standings, one point out of the 16th and final playoff spot. While it’s still very early to be looking at playoff…

Logano Looking For 1st Win Of Season Sunday In Bristol

The 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season has started off an awful lot like the 2017 one for Joey Logano. At this point last year, Logano had six top six finishes through the first seven races of the year. So far in 2018, Logano has six top seven finishes through the first seven events. He’s now just hoping from basically the end of this month on, it will go a lot better than last year did. But, in order to avoid that, first things first, go out and win…

SHR Prime Contenders To Win Again This Weekend

It’s no secret, Stewart-Haas Racing has been the top team in NASCAR this season. Between Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer, they’ve won four of the first seven Cup races to start 2018. They can push that number to five on Sunday at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway. Harvick, started off with not a lot of success in Bristol. At one point, he had 12 finishes outside the top 10 in 13 tries. Since though, he’s had five straight top 10 finishes, including a win in August 2016. He’s also led…

Heading To Bristol, Kyle Busch, Not Anyone Else, May Be The Championship Favorite

Through seven races in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, the odds on favorites to win the 2018 championship have been Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. It was a basic no brainer that those were the top two to beat. But, a third driver has not only entered the mix, he may actually be the one that Harvick and Truex will have to beat to get the title instead. Kyle Busch.

Should Hendrick Drivers Be Worried About The Playoffs?

Bristol, TN – Normally, we wouldn’t bat too much of an eye with the usual summer Hendrick Motorsports struggles. After all, they seem to turn it on in the playoffs anyways. But, this season is different. This season you can’t sit back and test different setups for a playoff run. With playoff points and stages, no one is holding anything back. With that being said, does HMS need to be worried?

Good Nights for Playoff Bubble Drivers Bayne/Jones, Gap Becomes Wider Still

Bristol, TN – Erik Jones came away with his best career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series finish with a runner-up on Saturday night at the Bristol Motor Speedway. He led a race-high 260 of the 500 laps in tonight’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol and also earned his first career pole position this weekend. Unfortunately, he finished second. That wasn’t what he needed for a playoff run, as he’s now 126 points out of the final playoff spot. With just two races to go in the regular season,…

In 600th Career Cup Start, Kurt Busch Comes Home 5th at Bristol

Bristol, TN – Saturday night was Kurt Busch’s 600th career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start. In his previous 599 starts, he’s had a heck of a career. He won the 2004 Cup title, the 2017 Daytona 500, the 2010 Coca-Cola 600 and countless other races. In fact, he had 29 career wins and 254 top 10’s. Certainly, those numbers would put him on the ballot for future Hall of Fame consideration. But, in tonight’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night race, Busch was next best in class.

Matt Kenseth Doesn’t Win, But Moves Up a Spot In the Playoffs With 4th Place Run at Bristol

Bristol, TN – It wasn’t a win that he was searching for, but Matt Kenseth did have another Matt Kenseth night in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol. Quiet? Yes. That’s how Kenseth races and how he is. On Friday, he said he wasn’t concerned with his 2018 plans. It’s coming to September and the rides are drying up. Kenseth doesn’t have a ride. He’s being very quiet about that. He could be a sitting duck. Instead, he’s thriving.
