USAC “Week of Indy” Going to Be Big Spectacle

INDIANAPOLIS – NASCAR has Daytona Speedweeks in February. There’s not just a ton of races at the Daytona International Speedway down there in late winter, but there’s also short track racing at New Smyrna, Ocala and other places around Central Florida as well. Hoosier Hundred Entry-List Biggest In Over a Decade

INDIANAPOLIS – While there won’t be any bumping this year for the Indianapolis 500, the Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday night won’t have any problem with that. Nearly 40 drivers are entered on the preliminary entry-list, 39 to be exact. That’s the largest since over decade when the last time that many cars showed up on the “Indy Mile” was in 2005.

INDIANAPOLIS – The annual Hoosier Hundred will take place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday night, as it will be another classic USAC Silver Crown Race. The biggest storyline though will be, can anyone stop Kody Swanson. Swanson, 29, has won the last three straight years and is looking for a fourth straight win in the 63rd running of the event. The only time this feat has happened was when Al Unser won four straight from 1970-1973. Swanson, can join him on that rare honor Thursday night.

Bobby Santos Wins the USAC Silver Crown Race in Phoenix

Avondale, AZ – For the first time in nearly a decade, the USAC Silver Crown Series returned to the Phoenix International Raceway. The return was better than advertised too. Pole sitter Bobby Santos had a thrilling battle with David Byrne over the last several laps, which saw Santos get by Byrne with seven laps-to-go and never look back en route to the victory in Saturday’s Phoenix Copper Cup.
