INDIANAPOLIS – Back in September it was announced that Schmidt Peterson Motorsports had merged with Calmels Sport for their third entry with the team in the 2018 Indianapolis 500. Calmels, run by former F1 car owner Didier Calmels, was going to bring Tristian Gommendy to the race. Gommendy, 38, would have been a rookie, as he competed in one full season (2007) in Champ Car.
