Team Penske hasn’t had the most success in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season but when they had the speed, they’ve been at the right times. Brad Keselowski won the season opening Clash at Daytona. He also won the Southern 500 and the Brickyard 400 as well. If there’s a marquee event, Penske has been in the hunt to win.
Now, can they win the biggest marquee event of the season – the championship?
Joey Logano has marched his way into the Championship 4 and has a really good shot at earning Penske’s second Cup Series championship and first since the switch to Ford. In 2012, Keselowski won with Penske and Dodge, so this would be a really big deal if they can get Ford their first Cup Series championship since 2004.
Plus, Logano would love to make his mark known. Keselowski, has won all the marquee events for them this year. Both of Logano’s wins have come on a superspeedway (Talladega) and a short track (Martinsville). Can he win on a 1.5-mile at the Homestead-Miami Speedway?
In nine prior starts on the South Florida track, Logano has four top 10 finishes including three straight top sixes. With him being the hottest driver in the series right now, he can a real shot at winning the title on Sunday.
