Tifft, Cindric Nab Top 5’s In Phoenix, Unfortunately Not Enough To Move Them On

AVONDALE, AZ – Matt Tifft and Austin Cindric are going to be championship contenders for the 2019 NASCAR XFINITY Series season. Both are ending the 2018 season on a high note. Unfortunately, despite some good finishes, both were eliminated from championship contention at the ISM Raceway on Saturday. Tifft, brought his No. 2 Chevrolet home third in the Whelen 200 at Phoenix for his fifth top seven finish in the six playoff races. Despite that, with Cole Custer and Christopher Bell winning races and automatically advancing to the Championship 4 and…

Bell Comes From The Back To Win Whelen 200 And Make Championship 4

AVONDALE, AZ – Christopher Bell had one shot to make it to the Championship 4 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. After bad luck in each of the last two NASCAR XFINITY Series races, Bell faced a win or go home scenario for Saturday’s Whelen 200 at the ISM Raceway. Unfortunately, Bell’s No. 20 Toyota failed prequalifying inspection three times and was never able to get on track on Saturday morning. He’d start the race in 38th as a result. That didn’t faze him.

McLaren Racing announced on Saturday that they will contest the 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500 next May with Fernando Alonso behind the wheel. Competing in his second Indy 500, Alonso will attempt to become only the second driver ever to secure world motorsport’s unofficial Triple Crown: victories at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Indianapolis 500. The feat was achieved by Graham Hill in 1972 with his win at Le Mans.

After All The Preliminary Action, Who’s Looking Good, Who’s Not Among Playoff Drivers

AVONDALE, AZ – Sunday’s Can Am 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBC/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at the ISM Raceway is the Round of 8 cutoff race. Whom among the eight eligible Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers will be in the Championship 4 next weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway? We know one driver is advancing on. That’s Joey Logano. He’s moving on because of his win two weeks ago in Martinsville. We thought Kevin Harvick was advancing but his L-1 penalty from his win last weekend in Texas took him from automatically in to…

Why Sunday’s Can Am 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBC/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) Could Be Won By A Non Playoff Driver

AVONDALE, AZ – We have seven Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers going for three spots into the Championship 4 in Sunday’s Can Am 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBC/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Despite that, I can make a strong case that this weekend’s race at the ISM Raceway in Phoenix could be won by a non playoff eligible driver. Last year’s race was won by a non playoff driver in Matt Kenseth. In fact, two of the last three were won by a driver that wasn’t eligible to win the championship in the…
