Sergio Perez will be treated like a rock star this weekend as he returns home for the Mexican Grand Prix. Perez, has a great shot of success too, as the “Big 3” teams have had up and down moments in this race. Lewis Hamilton finished ninth last year. Sebastian Vettel has never had a podium in Mexico. Daniel Ricciardo has just one podium in three tries including 20th last season. Max Verstappen has one podium, albeit a win last year, but he was also ninth in 2015.
The door is wide open.
Perez, has made three starts in his home race and was in the top 10 in each. He finished eighth in 2015, 10th in 2016 and seventh last year. He enters this weekend on the heels of three consecutive top 10 finishes on the season and five top eight results in the last six races overall.
Translation, his No. 11 entry will be strong this weekend.
Even his Force India teammate Esteban Ocon has been good in Mexico. He finished fifth last year. On the year, Ocon, has four top 10 finishes in his last six starts.
Force India will be sleepers to watch on Sunday.
