Kasey Kahne’s return to his No. 95 Chevrolet with Leavine Family Racing will have to wait at least another week. On Wednesday, the team announced that Kahne despite testing in a private session at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the oval on Tuesday will have to continue to be evaluated for extreme heat exhaustion.
The test was to determine where his condition is and while they didn’t reveal any health aspects in the statement, he’s still not cleared to drive. The team said that they will provide an update on Kahne’s condition following this weekend’s race at the Dover International Speedway.
Regan Smith will once again serve as the team’s substitute driver for the Dover race weekend which will be his fifth start in the series this year, all coming in replacement of Kahne. Smith, has done a tremendous job with three finishes inside of the top 20 in those starts.
In the three playoff races, he finished 12th in Vegas, 31st in Richmond and 15th in Charlotte.
