Matt DiBenedetto To Leave GoFas Racing At The End Of Season

INDIANAPOLIS – Matt DiBenedetto announced on Friday that the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season would be his last with GoFas Racing in their No. 32 Ford. DiBenedetto, has been with the team the last two years and has turned a ton of heads with them. Despite GoFas having a limited budget, DiBenedetto has three top 10 finishes, two of occurring in the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400.

Everyone had always wondered what DiBenedetto would do in a top ride. Well, it appears that we’re about to find out. 

DiBenedetto, issued a statement on Friday about stepping away from the team past this season but has an announcement at 9:45 a.m. ET tomorrow morning. He said the team and himself have decided “to move in different directions for 2019.”

“This gives me the best opportunity to further my career and showcase my talent and ability to the highest level. Winning races has always been the goal and now I’m taking a leap of faith and betting on myself to prove it,” DiBenedetto said via a statement.”

In 129 Cup Series starts, DiBenedetto has four top 10 finishes with a best result of sixth in the 2016 spring race at Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway.

DiBenedetto, has seen what Ryan Preece, Ross Chastain, Brett Moffitt and others have done when getting a chance in a top ride. Saturday could be an announcement that he’s found one for himself.
