Kirkwood Earns 10th Straight USF2000 Victory In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore – Kyle Kirkwood may have wrapped up the USF2000 Series championship in the last race weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. In fact, the American did so in Race No. 1 of the three race weekend. While he didn’t have anything to necessarily race for over the final two races of the weekend, he still won the other two races as well.

In the season finale weekend at the Portland International Raceway, Kirkwood’s main goal was to just win out. I mean, why not?

So far, he’s 1-for-1.

Kirkwood started on the pole and led 24 of the 25 laps in race No. 1 en route to his 10th straight victory on the season. It was his 11th trip to victory lane in general in 2018 as he’s now one shy of tying JR Hildebrand for the most in a single season.

Kirkwood, started on the pole but was passed by Rasmus Lindh on the opening lap. But, one lap later, he got back by and set his sails on another race win. He’d beat second place finisher Calvin Ming by 2.0184-seconds around the 1.964-mile road course.

Kory Enders came from seventh to being his No. 11 Mazda home third while Lindh and Lucas Kohl rounded out the top five.

The race had one caution for a three car crash on Lap 20 in Turn 3. Other than that, the race was a clean yet thrilling event.
