Qualifying To Be Difficult For Sunday’s Sonoma Grand Prix (6:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/IndyCar Radio Network)

SONOMA, Calif – Any time the Verizon IndyCar Series visits the Sonoma Raceway, the action around the 2.385-mile road course is always tricky. The combination of tire wear and the track being extremely slick makes every lap around the 12 turn circuit difficult. In race conditions, tire management is what separates the men from the boys. But, in qualifying, it’s a completely different animal. Lap times fall off each lap for obvious reasons. So, that means you really only get one lap to make it count on Saturday to set your…

Ford, Toyota’s Strong In Vegas, Chevrolet Drivers Struggling So Far

The first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice session is in the books this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and after it’s all said and done, it appears that the Chevrolet teams may have a problem on their hands. 55 minutes of practice to go along with three rounds of qualifying show that they may be lacking in the speed department on the 1.5-mile track. For a group trying to avoid the most casualties in the first round of the playoffs, this isn’t a good start.

Ross Chastain is as nervous as anyone in this weekend’s NACAR XFINITY Series field at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
