Hamlin Earns Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) Pole

BROOKLYN, Mich – Denny Hamlin is on a roll during the last few weeks in qualifying for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races. Hamlin, earned his third straight top four starting spot on Friday, including two straight Busch Pole Awards as he took his No. 11 Toyota to the top starting spot for Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400 (2:30 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Hamlin, swept all three rounds of knockout qualifying from the Michigan International Speedway en route to his 28th career Cup Series pole and second of the 2018 season. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver circled the 2-mile track with a speed of 202.794 mph.

The Virginia native earned the pole for last weeks race at Watkins Glen too.

The front row will also be an all JGR row as Kyle Busch qualified his No. 18 Toyota second with a speed of 202.731 mph.

Kevin Harvick will roll off third in his No. 4 Ford as he qualified with a lap of 202.100 mph. Harvick, finished runner-up at Michigan in June for his sixth second place finish since 2013 on the track.

A third JGR car will start in the top two rows with Erik Jones (201.805 mph) rolling off fourth in his No. 20 Toyota. The only reason they didn’t have all four drivers in the top five was because Daniel Suarez got into the Turn 2 wall in the first round of qualifying.

Austin Dillon (201.748 mph) rounded out the top five while his Richard Childress Racing teammate of Ryan Newman (201.658 mph) will start alongside.

June race winner Clint Bowyer earned the 16th starting spot.

Last weeks winner Chase Elliott will start 21st.
