The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers head back to the Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the annual return trip to the Irish Hills. With that being said, how likely is it that we see another win by a member of the “Big 3?” Michigan is a track that rewards horsepower. Its been recently repaved and with the wide sweeping corners, the action there is even more about pure speed than anywhere else.
So, with the “Big 3” dominating wins over the last 30+ races, why bet against them?
One driver to watch is Kevin Harvick. He finished second back in June but if not for that late rain storm which ended the race after 133 Laps, he was likely in a position to win. Instead, it was his sixth runner-up on the 2-mile track over the last 11 races.
The Stewart-Haas Racing driver finished second in each of the two Michigan races in 2013 and again in 2014 while coming home second just once in 2015. He was fifth in two other races as well.
With how well he’s been running in 2018 mixed with how well Ford has done at Michigan lately, it’s a no brainer that he will be a favorite on Sunday, if not the favorite.
