For the second straight week, the NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers will make left and right hand turns as they head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Saturday’s Rock n Roll Tequila 170 (3 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). The sixth annual stop to the northern Ohio road course will feature an event without any Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers.
With that being said, this race is wide open for the taking.
Allgaier has two top eight finishes in his three starts at Mid-Ohio including a fifth place run in 2016. He also enters hot as he’s had eight straight top 10 finishes on the season including a third place run last weekend at Watkins Glen.
He’s due for a win soon and this could be the week. In five starts at Mid-Ohio, he’s finished in the top 10 in all of them. He’s finished worse than 12th just twice all year and is driving for a team that won this race in 2015.
He’s also due for a win and should capitalize this weekend. Hemric, finished second in this race last year and looking to get his season back on track on Saturday.
Here’s a sleeper here, Andy Lally will be making his first NASCAR start of the season and doing so for an underfunded team again. But, he finished seventh in this race in 2016 and fifth last year. He’s a road racing ace and should be among the ones to beat.
You can’t overlook him either. He also is a road racing ace and won this race in 2016. He’s driving for the same Chip Ganassi Racing team that he won with and should be in the mix on Saturday.
