100 Cars Now Entered For Driven2SaveLives BC 39 At The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Event Nearing Record Numbers

The entry list for the inaugural Driven2SaveLives BC 39 presented by NOS Energy Drink has now reached 100. As of Friday, the Sept. 5-6 USAC Midget race inside of Turn 3 of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is rapidly approaching a record car count. Per USAC, the Midget record was set in 1990 when 109 drivers showed up for the Turkey Night Grand Prix. That race happened to be the final race held in Ascot Park in southern California. The all-time USAC national event record is 138 for the USAC Sprint Car “Mopar Million” at the Eldora Speedway in 2003.

This list is packed with star power. Keith Kunz Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian have entered Christopher Bell and current points leader Logan Seavey. They’ve also entered females Holly Shelton and Maria Cofer as well as 2017 series Rookie of the Year Tanner Carrick. Ryan Robinson, Tucker Klaasmeyer and Sam Johnson round out their entries. Kyle Larson was originally entered but he’s since had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict. Spencer Bayston, a rising star was on it too but he was injured in a race on Thursday night and had surgery on his legs on Friday. He will miss the show.

There are some other NASCAR drivers or former USAC drivers that moved up the NASCAR ranks. Last year’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year Chase Briscoe will race as will Ricky Stenhouse Jr. J.J. Yeley and Toyota developmental driver Tanner Thorson will be a part of the show. Former NASCAR driver and USAC legend Tracy Hines will try to make the prestigious field as will veterans Jerry Coons Jr., Dave Darland, John Heydenreich and Billy Wease.

Sarah Fisher will field cars for Darland and Kyle O’Gara. Indiana Sprint Week Winner C.J. Leary will be on it so will Easter Midget points leader Alex Bright.

The 39-lap feature on Sept. 6 in the richest Midget racing event in recent history. The event will feature more than $70,000 in purse and incentives, including a $15,000 winner’s purse, the largest in Midget racing. For the first night of action on Wednesday, September 5, will feature hot laps, heat races and a pursuit race.  The public gates open at 3pm with cars set to get on track at 6:30pm.

On Thursday, September 6, on-track action will begin with hot laps, as all cars will practice with their respective qualifying races, before getting into the qualifying races and the alphabet mains, concluding with the A-Main event.  The public gates open at 3pm with cars set to get on track at 6pm.
