Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have had an intense battle all weekend in Hamilton’s home country of England. Hamilton, led both practice sessions on Friday while Vettel was quickest in his No. 5 Ferrari on Saturday morning. Then, in qualifying, Vettel was fastest in the opening round and held the top spot for much of the final round too. But, Hamilton led a hard charge on his last lap circling the track with a lap of 1:25.892-seconds in his No. 44 Mercedes moving past his German rival at that moment.
Vettel, his teammate Kimi Raikkonen and Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas each had one more lap in them too though. None could top Hamilton’s lap as the Brit earned his sixth career British Grand Prix pole, four of which consecutively. It was also his 76th career Formula One pole, 50 of those coming with this Mercedes team.
On top of all of that, Hamilton has won four straight races on the Silverstone track and now has as good as a shot as ever to make that five straight and six overall.
Vettel, will start alongside as he turned in a lap of 1:25.988-seconds. Raikkonen was barely off that lap as he qualified with a time of 1:25.990-seconds in his No. 7 Ferrari.
Bottas (1:26.288-seconds) will start fourth while the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo starts fifth and sixth respectively.
