Kyle Kirkwood Leads All 20 Laps En Route To 2nd Mid-Ohio Win Of USF2000 Race Weekend

LEXINGTON, OH – On Friday, Kyle Kirkwood dominated the opening race of the USF2000 race weekend. He started his No. 8 Mazda on the pole and led all 20 laps en route to a flag to flag victory. The win also clinched the 2018 championship for the youngster too.

On Saturday, the first real race of the season where Kirkwood had no pressure, he swept the field yet again.

Kirkwood, started second but quickly passed pole sitter Kaylen Frederick and never looked back in his second win in as many days. He led all 20 laps yet again, bringing his 2018 total to 183. Only three other drivers have even led a lap all season and they’ve combined to lead 66 in total.

Kirkwood’s win on Saturday was his ninth of the year, eight of which consecutively.

For the second straight day, Kirkwood beat Lucas Kohl to the checkered flag. Kohl, had to settle for another runner-up in his No. 22 Mazda.

Igor Fraga was third in his No. 91 Mazda while Rasmus Lindh and Calvin Ming rounded out the top five on Saturday.

Also for the second straight day, Frederick crashed on Lap 5. He started second on Friday and got into the wall in Turn 4. On Saturday, he started on the front row again and also on Lap 5, crashed.
