Kirkwood Sweeps Mid-Ohio Weekend For 9th Straight USF2000 Victory

LEXINGTON, OH – If anyone was going to stop Kyle Kirkwood from his long winning streak, it would have happened this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The American came into the weekend with aspirations of clinching this year’s USF2000 championship. With his wide lead, his win on Friday secured just that.

So, over the last two races of the weekend on the 2.258-mile road course, Kirkwood had nothing to race for other than trophies.

He’d take home two more pieces of hardware too.

Kirkwood, led every lap of the weekend as he took his No. 8 Mazda to victory on Sunday afternoon. He led all 60 laps of action and never trailed en route to his 10th win in 12 races this year, nine of which coming consecutively.

Pole sitter James Raven brought his No. 7 Mazda home runner-up crossing the finish/line 6.1014-seconds behind Kirkwood. Rasmus Lindh, Keith Donegan and Igor Fraga rounded out the top five.

There’s just one race weekend left as the series visits Portland on Labor Day weekend for the doubleheader season finales.
