Sauter Wins 4th Race Of 2018 In Dominating Win In Texas

FORT WORTH, TX – He was the favorite for a reason. Johnny Sauter backed up his gaudy Texas stats with setting a new record for most wins on the Texas Motor Speedway track in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition with a record setting fifth victory on the 1.5-mile track. The GMS Racing driver led a race-high 51 of 167 laps in Friday night’s PPG 400 en route to his third win in the last four races in Texas.

He won the last two Fall races on the track and now reaches victory lane in the June race as Sauter won for the fourth time of the season. In fact, he may have won three of the last four races at Texas but also has won three of the last four races of the season too.

He now has six top three finishes and seven in the top five in eight races this year.

His No. 21 Chevrolet is bar none the tops in the series this season. The win was his 21st of his career too.

Stewart Friesen brought his No. 52 Chevrolet home runner-up for his best career Truck Series finish. He led 13 laps on Friday night for his third straight top six finish and fifth in the last seven races of the year. He has been great on 1.5-mile tracks as his finishes on them in 2018 are sixth (Atlanta), fifth (Las Vegas), third (Kansas), sixth (Charlotte) and now second (Texas) respectively.

Justin Haley finished third in his No. 24 Chevrolet for his third top five finish of the season. Grant Enfinger would be the top non Chevy finisher in bringing his No. 98 Ford home fourth for his sixth top 10 result in 2018.

Matt Crafton rounded out the top five in his No. 88 Ford. That was his 14th straight top 10 finish at Texas.

The series returns to action next weekend at the Iowa Speedway.
