JOLIET, Ill – Elliott Sadler broke some news on Friday afternoon at the Chicagoland Speedway as he said during a press conference that he’s actively seeking some new funding with his sponsor One Main Financial not returning to his car for the 2019 NASCAR XFINITY Series season. The company has been his sponsor since 2010 and followed him every year since.
This isn’t the first time that One Main Financial has ended their deal with Sadler but it could be the first one that lasts.
In July of 2016, the two sides initially announced that they wouldn’t be returning past that season. But, just one month later, they ended up making it work as they’ve sponsored the JR Motorsports driver for 20 races in each of the last two years of XFINITY Series competition. Now, it seems like they’re going to really go away at the end of this season meaning Sadler, 43, will need to help in the sponsorship department if he wants to return for his fourth season with JRM in 2019.
Despite that, the Virginia native said that he doesn’t have many doubts that he can find some sponsorship deals as his stats speak for themselves.
Saturday’s Overton’s 300 will be Sadler’s 377th XFINITY Series start with him winning 13 of them. He’s also scored 214 top 10’s in 376 starts in the series overall too. Sadler, was runner-up in the final points standings in each of the last two years with four second place finishes in the last seven years of competition in the series.
On top of all of that, Sadler has also made 448 starts in NASCAR’s premiere series and has reached victory lane three times there. He’s then made 20 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts with one trip win in that series too becoming one of just 27 drivers to win in all three of NASCAR’s divisions.
Sadler has eight victories, 83 top-five finishes and 178 top-10 finishes with One Main Financial’s support.
