Kirkwood Extends USF2000 Points Lead With 4 Win Of 2018 Season

ELKHART LAKE, Wis – Kyle Kirkwood has won at every track on the 2018 USF2000 schedule now. He and Alex Baron split wins in the season opener at St. Pete as well as the two road course races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But, in the two races since, Kirkwood has since won at.

Kirkwood, took his No. 8 Mazda to victory in the race at Lucas Oil Raceway on the west side of Indianapolis, then took the victory in Saturday’s race at Road America for his fourth win of the season. He started second but quickly found the lead and led all 12 laps en route to the thrilling victory. Kirkwood, narrowly held off a hard charging Kaylen Frederick as Frederick brought his No. 24 Mazda home runner-up by just 0.4865-seconds. 

Rookie Keith Donegan started 10th and in only 12 Laps found the podium in his No. 28 Mazda. Pole sitter Rasmus Lindh and Kory Enders rounded out the top five.

The race also helped Kirkwood’s championship hopes too. He leads Baron by 77 points when Baron finished seventh. Jose Siera finished ninth and fell behind too.

The race was flagged twice the first on Lap 4 for Sabre Cook getting off course in Turn 9. The second came on the last lap with Cook crashing in Turn 7.
