ELKHART LAKE, Wis – After a dismal Month of May at Indy where Ed Jones finished 22nd (INDYCAR Grand Prix) and 31st (Indianapolis 500) respectively, he hasn’t finished outside the top 10 since. Jones, brought his No. 10 Honda home with his fourth straight top 10 finish in Sunday’s Kohler Grand Prix as he finished ninth in the 55 Lap race at Road America.
Jones, started 12th but hung around all afternoon en route to his 11th career top 10 finish in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Really, if not for a couple of mistakes and that rough month in Indy, Jones would likely be in the championship conversation.
He finished eighth in the season opener in St. Pete then was running second in the second race of the season at Phoenix before crashing out with 20 laps-to-go. The next race at Long Beach he’d finish third. Barber and the two races at Indy caught him off guard, but other than that, he’s been stellar.
The Dubai native is showing that he has a bright future in this sport. People forget that he’s only made 27 starts in this sport. He’s had six top 10’s this season alone. The guy he’s since replaced in the seat with Ganassi Tony Kanaan, had seven all of last season. He also had made 300+ more starts than Jones at that point too.
So, Jones is doing just fine.
