Kyle Kirkwood Wins USF2000 Race No. 2 in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – On Friday, Kyle Kirkwood didn’t utilize the speed that he had in his No. 8 Mazda. He was quickest in practice on Thursday and won the pole for not just yesterday’s race, but today’s too. Alex Baron passed him on Lap 6 and never looked back en route to the victory. Kirkwood had to settle for a second place run.

On Saturday morning at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he made sure that no one could touch him.

Kirkwood, led all 20 laps en route to his second victory of the USF2000 Series season. He extends his points lead to 13 points leaving the 2.439-mile track and is in the catbirds seat for the title.

But, Baron isn’t going to let him get away so quickly. The winner of the second race at St. Pete and the first race this weekend, started third on Saturday but quickly fell back. A couple of caution flags allowed him to not just catch back up, but he would charge to a second place finish in his No. 19 Mazda.

Rasmus Lindh finished third in his No. 23 Mazda. He started third yesterday but finished 14th. He would roll off fifth today and come away with a podium.

Darren Keane finished two laps off the pace in 23rd on Friday but came away with a fourth place run on Saturday. James Roe rounded out the top five.
