The Stewart-Haas Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing camps are arguably the ones to beat for Saturday night’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at the Kansas Speedway. But, two sets of teams are also very formidable sleepers as well.
Lets start with JTG Daugherty Racing. Both AJ Allmendinger and his teammate Chris Buescher can very well contend for top 10 finishes under the lights this weekend. Allmendinger, finished eighth in both Kansas races in 2016. Buescher, was sixth there last fall.
Their Chevrolet’s should be contending for quiet runs up front on Saturday. So could the two Roush/Fenway Racing Fords too.
Last spring, both finished very well in this very race. Trevor Bayne brought his No. 6 Ford home 10th and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finishing 11th in his No. 17 Ford. This weekend, the team will have a big storyline with Matt Kenseth returning to the series. He replaces Bayne. Can he do anything with it?
Odds say yes.
