JR Motorsports Dominates Saturday’s XFINITY Series Race As Allgaier Victorious

Justin Allgaier was due for a win. He finally got it. The JR Motorsports driver ended a 16 race winless skid in Saturday’s One Main Financial 200 at the Dover International Speedway en route to the win at the Monster Mile. Allgaier, led the final 67 laps in the victory, as his last win came on Sept. 16, 2017 at the Chicagoland Speedway.

He held off a furious charge from his JRM teammate Elliott Sadler at the end in a thrilling duel for the checkered flag. Allgaier, led a race high 104 of the 200 laps in his No. 7 Chevrolet as he now has led the most laps out of any driver this season with 276 circuits out front in 2018. It was his sixth top three finish in the last nine races on the season.

Allgaier’s win also gave the series 10 different winners in the first 10 races of the season. That’s the second longest streak of that occurrence since 1982. It was also the eighth straight different winner in XFINITY Series competition at Dover.

Sadler gave JRM a 1-2 finish as he crossed the finish line just 0.306-seconds behind his teammate on Saturday. He’d lead 33 laps himself in his No. 1 Chevrolet for his 10th top 10 in as many races this season. Eight of those top 10’s saw him result in a finish inside the top five, including four weeks straight now.

JRM had three cars finish inside the top five as Tyler Reddick brought his No. 9 Chevrolet home fifth for his first top five finish since his season opening win at Daytona. He led 23 laps himself as the trio combined to lead all but 40 laps on Saturday.

Daniel Hemric earned his sixth top three finish in the last eight races with a third place run in his No. 21 Chevrolet, while Christopher Bell brought his No. 20 Toyota home fourth for his sixth top four effort in the last nine races.

Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winner Johnny Sauter came home sixth while rookie Noah Gragson was one spot behind in seventh.

The series now has some time off before returning to action on Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte.
