It’s no secret, Stewart-Haas Racing has been the top team in NASCAR this season. Between Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer, they’ve won four of the first seven Cup races to start 2018. They can push that number to five on Sunday at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway.
Harvick, started off with not a lot of success in Bristol. At one point, he had 12 finishes outside the top 10 in 13 tries. Since though, he’s had five straight top 10 finishes, including a win in August 2016. He’s also led laps in seven of the last nine Bristol races. Some of those races, he’s led a ton of laps in.
Seven, 28, 75, 184, 0, 13, 128, 14 and zero are his laps led at Bristol respectively since 2014. He’s had the best overall car all year. Now, if his pit guns don’t fail him, watch out on Sunday.
Also don’t overlook Bowyer either. He has nine top five finishes over his last 12 Bristol starts. He was second in this very race last Spring and won on the last short track this season in Martinsville.
Kurt Busch can also win too. He has five trips to victory lane at Bristol and has led 1,062 laps around the .533-mile oval. He was fifth last August and third in 2016.
Aric Almirola can also be a contender as well. While he hasn’t had a top five or top 10 finish since 2014 at Bristol, his No. 10 Ford is more than capable of that now.
To me, SHR are the odds on favorites to win on Sunday.
