We have definitely seen a few Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers separate themselves from the pack as favorites. Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and a few others come to mind. But, there are some solid sleeper picks out there, a few have inched closer to the favorite rankings.
Both Front Row Motorsports cars as well as Leavine Family Racing’s Kasey Kahne are there. Yes, they’re the top sleepers and this isn’t on a restrictor plate track.
Lets start with FRM.
Michael McDowell qualified his No. 34 Ford in ninth but was strong in practice too. His first two sessions saw him 19th and 13th respectively. He was fifth quick in final practice. His teammate David Ragan will start 23rd in Sunday’s Food City 500 (2 p.m. ET/FOX/PRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) but he was ninth, sixth and first respectively in his No. 38 Ford in the opening two practice sessions around the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway this weekend.
Watch out for those two.
What about Kahne?
He’s normally pretty good at Bristol already. But, put his No. 95 Chevrolet starting in 15th and being 11th, fifth and ninth respectively in practice and you get the hint here.
Why not throw some money these three drivers’ way. They’re the top sleeper picks and some that could make you look like a genius if you get in now.
