DAYTONA BEACH, Fla – The Haas F1 team riled some feathers lately with saying that there’s not any American drivers right now, let alone any Verizon IndyCar Series ones, that could race in Formula One. While I strongly disagree with that statement, as I can make a point that there’s likely 3-5 Americans that can not just race in F1, but compete, another non American INDYCAR driver is proving he’s actually the best in the world.
Yes, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, etc are listed as some of the best race car drivers there are right now, but in my opinion, none of them could hold a candle to Scott Dixon.
This weekend in Daytona, Dixon scored his third career Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona victory. That is two shy of tying the prestigious races’ record.
Adding to that, Dixon has 41 INDYCAR wins, ranking him, fourth all-time and the top non American. To go along with that, he has four series championships, an Indy 500 win and two poles in the prestigious Month of May race.
Since 2006, he hasn’t finished worse than sixth in the series championship. Now, he has another Rolex watch to his credit.
To me, the New Zealand native can win in any car, in any series, at any track, at any given time.
Isn’t that the definition of greatness?
