INDIANAPOLIS – A few weeks ago Belardi Racing hinted that moves for the 2018 racing season should soon be revealed. On Thursday, one move was confirmed. Aaron Telitz will return to the team for the 2018 Indy Lights season as the 2016 Pro Mazda champion earned another look for the prominent Indy Lights Series organization.
Telitz, 26, made all 16 starts in 2017 with the team, including winning in his first career race in March on the streets of St. Pete. He in fact, bookended the season earning his second career victory in the season finale at Watkins Glen. The Wisconsin native would finish sixth in the final season standings with two wins, four podiums, nine top five finishes and 12 top 10’s.
He earned the ride last season with his Mazda Road to Indy Scholarship. But, he showed enough to earn another look for next year. Telitz, won six races in his championship season with Team Pelfrey in Pro Mazda competition two years ago. In 2014 and 2015, he competed in the USF2000 Series earning two victories, 17 podiums and 21 top five finishes and 26 top 10’s in 30 career starts.
Overall, Telitz has 10 wins, 34 podiums, 44 top five finishes and 54 top 10’s in 62 career starts through the Mazda Road to Indy ladder. What’s remarkable is he’s finished inside the top 10 in every race with the exception of five since the start of the 2015 season. That’s a span of three years.
