Dale Earnhardt Jr. Closing 2017 Season Strong, Finishes 10th at Phoenix

Avondale, AZ – Dale Earnhardt Jr. hasn’t had the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season like he’s wanting. He hasn’t won a race in 71 races (53 tries) and he knows his tenure is closing quickly. On Friday, he talked about how real this is coming. He’s getting emotional about it. Heading into Sunday’s Can-Am 500, he only had two starts left.

But, as the season has gone on, his stats are going up too. Over the last seven races, he’s finished worse than 12th just once. On Sunday, Earnhardt brought his No. 88 Chevrolet home 10th at the Phoenix Raceway.

It didn’t come easy though.

Earnhardt, blew a right front tire on Lap 226. He’d have to pit as a result. But, he didn’t give up and ended strong. Other than a 35th place run last weekend at Texas, he’s been strong over the last two months.

Can he end in victory lane next Sunday at Homestad?
