Nothing against Nationwide Insurance, Axalta Paints, Mountain Dew or any other sponsor that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has driven for over the last since 2008, but when I, and most, think of Earnhardt Jr., we think of his bright red Budweiser colors. Now, we get to see NASCAR’s most popular driver don the Budweiser colors on his No. 88 Chevrolet one more time this weekend.
Earlier this summer, Budweiser and Hendrick Motorsports announced that in the season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Budweiser will put their colors on Earnhardt’s car. It’s a fitting tribute to send the third generation driver into retirement.
Sunday, will be Earnhardt’s 631st and final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start. He’s been to victory lane 26 times over the course of his 17 year career. But, a lot of his top moment came in that iconic paint scheme. Well, on Tuesday morning, Budweiser revealed a touching and emotional tribute video for Earnhardt and taking a look back on his career including his first career win at Texas, his win at Charlotte, his emotional Pepsi 400 win in the first trip back to Daytona in July 2001 following his dads passing and the 2004 Daytona 500 victory as well.
Watch the video here. Oh, by the way, have a tissue or two or three handy.
