Fort Worth, TX- Any time someone drives for Team Penske or Chip Ganassi Racing, the word “double” comes up to them. With those organizations fielding Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams as well as Verizon IndyCar Series teams, the opportunity to race in the Indianapolis 500 is always a possibility.
With Ryan Blaney moving over to drive a third Penske car for the 2018 Cup season, he was asked on Friday at the Texas Motor Speedway on his thoughts of driving in the prestigious Indianapolis 500.
“I would love to do it,” said Blaney on the opportunity if it ever came up. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.”
We know it won’t happen in 2018 as Penske has stated he will race his three full-time drivers and Helio Castroneves in the racing’s biggest event. He won’t field a car for Juan Pablo Montoya though saying he’s sticking with four cars next May.
But, if something came up in 2019 or beyond, Blaney is interested. So is Kyle Larson, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and a whole slew of others.
