Avondale, AZ – While everyone is talking about the Championship 4 or the dramatic ending to Sunday’s Can-Am 500 at the Phoenix Raceway, one driver getting overlooked is Aric Almirola. It was a great week for him too. On Wednesday, it was finally announced that he would move move the Stewart-Haas Racing to drive the No. 10 Ford for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.
Nothing against Richard Petty Motorsports, but it was Almirola’s chance to finally prove what he can do. This move was shocking though as several weeks ago it was announced that Almirola nor his sponsor Smithfield wouldn’t be returning to RPM for 2018. Smithfield then was announced to be going to SHR. Danica Patrick was also out with SHR. That day ensued chaos and drama.
How could it end?
Everyone has since been professional.
Almirola, earned his third top 10 finishes over the last five races on Sunday with a ninth place run at Phoenix. He also finished fifth at Talladega and ninth at Kansas. It’s shaping up to be a good ending of the season for Almirola.
