Jack Harvey Returning To SPM Seat At A Place That He Holds Fond Memories Of

This weekend’s Verizon IndyCar Series race may be Jack Harvey’s only third start of his career, but he’s confident he can contend. Harvey, started 27th and finished 31st in May’s Indianapolis 500, as he was caught up in a crash not of his doing. Then, his next start, didn’t come until two weeks ago at Watkins Glen where he finished 14th.

Now, he’s back in the No. 7 Honda with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports hoping to show the team that he belongs in this seat for the 2018 season. See, there’s a short list of 28 drivers that are viable for this seat next year and Harvey is certainly on it.

He’s got the best opportunity of any of of the other 27 drivers as he gets to leave a lasting impression. Others don’t have that luxury.

Luckily, it’s at a track this weekend where he’s so fond of.

“Sonoma holds a lot of good memories for me with winning two races here in Indy Lights and having my first Indy car test here, which was with SPM (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports),” Harvey said ahead of this weekend’s race. “I’m hoping to add to those memories this weekend and keep building off all the positive we had at the Glen. I’m excited to have everyone from AutoNation and Sirius XM come out this week to support me and the team.”

The Indy Lights Series was last at Sonoma in 2014, where Harvey swept both races. Now, he’s back and in an INDYCAR seat with the team he won both of those Lights races with.

If Harvey can get another solid finish, he’s got to be the favorite for that seat moving forward.
