SPM Aligns With Calmels Sport For 2018 Indianapolis 500

For the second straight May, it appears that Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will align with another team for the Indianapolis 500. Smithfield Leaves RPM For Stewart-Haas, How This Move Affects Silly Season

Another big NASCAR Silly Season domino was revealed on Tuesday morning as sponsor Smithfield announced that they will leave Richard Petty Motorsports for Stewart-Haas Racing beginning in the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. Smithfield, has had a long history with RPM, first joining the team in 2012. The sponsor and RPM had previously had a handshake agreement for an extension, but recently talks between the two came to a halt and the company wanted to look elsewhere in the NASCAR garage.
