Kyle Busch Dominates XFINITY Series Race at Bristol

Bristol, TN – The Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway is proving to be Kyle Busch’s playground. On Wednesday night, Busch won his fifth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the .533-mile track by leading 109 of the 203 laps en route to the dominating victory.

He overcame a pit road speeding penalty to reach the front with ease. He came from 17th to first in 50 laps.

Action During Friday night’s Food City 300

On Friday night, it was nearly an identical race for Busch.

Busch dominated Stage 1, then had a pit road speeding penalty when he hit pit road after the completion of the opening of three stages in Friday night’s Food City 300. He’d restart 19th. Like Wednesday night, it didn’t take him long to get back to the front, as he passed 18 cars in 58 laps to get his No. 18 Toyota back to the top spot.

He’d win the second stage as well.

He’d also never look back.

Busch, earned his ninth career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory at Bristol, eight of which coming over the last 15 races at the high banked Tennessee track, en route to the second dominating victory of the race weekend. He led 186 of the 300 laps and won his 179th NASCAR race of his career, 91 of them in the XFINITY Series.

It was also his five victory in nine races this season.

Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate of Daniel Suarez came home second in his No. 20 Toyota for his fifth top five finish in 11 starts this season. He led 24 laps on the night.

Points leader Elliott Sadler brought his No. 1 Chevrolet home third for his 17th top 10 of the season, while Ty Dillon finished fourth in his No. 3 Chevrolet.

Sadler’s JR Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier rounded out the top five in his No. 7 Chevrolet. It was his second top five over the last three starts on the season as he has four finished outside the top 20 in the last six starts. He led 75 laps on Friday night.

The series has a true standalone race next weekend at Road America. The other two NASCAR divisions are off, so all the attention will be on the XFINITY Series in the NASCAR world. It will also be the third road course races over the last four weeks.
