James Davison has made two Indianapolis 500 starts, including a great showing this past May where he finished 20th filling in for an injured Sebastien Bourdais. Now, he will make a NASCAR start, racing the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday afternoon. On top of that, he will also race at Road America in that very same ride next weekend as well.
Davison, 30, made his lone XFINITY Series start last year at Road America where he finished 19th despite making his way into the top five prior to that.
The Australian 30, has a ton of road racing experiencing ranging from IndyCar, IMSA, Grand-Am and Pirelli World Challenge.
“I’m excited to wheel the No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing at Mid-Ohio and Road America,” Davison said in a media release. “The team’s level of professionalism has been fantastic to be a part of and I look forward to getting down to business.”
Erik Jones, Ryan Preece and Denny Hamlin have already won in this car this season.
