Brooklyn, MI – Nothing in life is guaranteed, but one thing practically is, and that is Denny Hamlin will finish fourth in Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 (3 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN) at the Michigan International Speedway.
That is if Hamlin races.
Hamlin’s longtime girlfriend Jordan Fish is pregnant with the couples second child and her due date was Thursday. She’s due any time. If she goes into labor, Hamlin is bolting and heading back to North Carolina.
But, if she doesn’t, then Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota is due himself for another fourth place finish.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has finished fourth in each of the two races over the last two weeks. In fact, if you go back to the last two months of the season, Hamlin has five fourth place finishes over his last eight Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts.
Where did he finish at Michigan back in June?
You guessed it, fourth.
So, he’s destined for another fourth place finish on Sunday.
Hamlin, was third in practice on Friday afternoon and qualified 10th. In the two sessions on Saturday, the Virginia native was 15th and eighth respectively.
