Long Pond, PA – Charlie Kimball will start third for Sunday’s ABC Supply 500 (2 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network). That should come to no surprise.
Kimball, earned his first and only Verizon IndyCar Series pole earlier this season on another superspeedway at the Texas Motor Speedway and if not for an oil leak, he would have came away with likely a top five finish in his No. 83 Honda.
Now, he returns to the front on another superspeedway and should have a legitimate shot of a win at the Pocono Raceway on Sunday.
Honda, has dominated superspeedway’s the last two years, and led 181 of the 200 laps at Indy back in May. On top of that, Chip Ganassi Racing has been very good on superspeedways this year and had all four cars qualify in the top 10.
Don’t sleep on Kimball on Sunday. He finished second here in 2013.
