In Indy Lights competition, Spencer Pigot swept the weekend at Toronto in 2015. Last year, he made his first start on the 1.786-mile street circuit in a Verizon IndyCar Series machine. He’d finish 19th.
Now, with a season under his belt in 2016, Pigot returns to the Exhibition Place street circuit with more confidence. It showed on Friday.
Pigot, 23, was sixth fastest in the first session this morning, then followed that up with being 13th overall in the second session later on this afternoon in his No. 20 Chevrolet. That has him beaming with joy heading into qualifying day on Saturday to set the field for Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto (3 p.m. ET/CNBC/INDYCAR Radio Network).
Pigot, has three top 10’s in eight starts this season and knows this is his opportunity to to show everyone what he’s got and what he can do this weekend. This very car finished second in 2015. His teammate JR Hildebrand’s car won that race in 2015 for a 1-2 finish.
So, Pigot has a quick car, a car that can win here and a chance to have a special weekend. Watch out for him as a sleeper this weekend.
