Logano vs. Kenseth For Final Playoff Spot Should Be Good at New Hampshire

Just seven points separate Matt Kenseth from Joey Logano for the final playoff spot currently in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series standings. It’s hard to believe that both drivers have struggled the way that they have, but here are two big names fighting hard for a playoff berth with only nine races to go in the regular season.

Did I mention these two also have a past history of bad blood between them too?

Logano, started this season off hot with eight top six finishes in the first nine races. But, in the nine races since, he only has two top 10’s. Six of those seven finishes out of the top 10 have been outside of the top 20 at that.

Kenseth, has also struggled and needs to win too.

They both have New Hampshire circled as a spot to do so at.

Kenseth, won this very race just last year and brought his No. 20 Toyota home second in the Fall race there. He won the Fall race in 2015 giving him three consecutive top two finishes at the Magic Mile. He also has four top four finishes over his last New Hampshire starts including three victories in his last eight trips there.

Logano, has three top four finishes over his last four New Hampshire races and four top four over his last six starts. He’s a two-time New Hampshire winner.

With so few points between them, stage positioning and a win in the end could make or break these two drivers’ seasons.
